GRUP TAGORE D'HOMES EN DIÀLEG

 

ABOUT 

 
 

Grup Tagore d'Homes en Diàleg (Men in dialogue) is a group of men who belong to some of the seminars " On the shoulders of giants " of the Valencian Community or are actively linked (as volunteers, in mixed commissions ...) to schools that work as Learning communities or that carry out Successful Educational Actions .

We gather with the main motivation of opening a space for dialogue between men, which allows us to find keys within the perspective of NAM (New Alternative Masculinities) that help build egalitarian affective and sexual relationships, which in the long run eradicate all kinds of violence from our lives, schools and of society.

 

OBJECTIVES

  • Generate a space for dialogue linked to education in the Valencian Community, where we as men can develop an identity based on deep feelings of love, friendship, solidarity, egalitarian dialogue and freedom, from the perspective of the New Alternative Masculinities.

  • Work to develop professional coherence between what we say and what we teach.

  • Raise awareness about the new masculinities as a model for overcoming gender violence.

  • Provide strategies from the NAM that help schools in the Valencian Community to become safe spaces, free of violence.

  • Promote personal and social transformation through friendship and solidarity of group members.

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES

  • Defend the diversity of values, attitudes and opinions

  • Respect the rights, dignity and values of all people.

  • Sensitivity for individual cultural differences.

  • Zero tolerance towards any form of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, culture, age, nationality, disability, health conditions ...

  • Explicit recognition of the rights of all people.

  • The group is governed by dialogic democracy, hence all the components are bound to accept the decisions made in the general assembly on:​​ non-compliance by any member of the ethical code; the positioning in front of public repercussions and the possible activities in which they participate as a group.

  • Assume a commitment to transformation that advances in the guarantee of professional and personal coherence in line with the scientific evidence on NAM.

  • In this space, a good working environment and confidentiality of those personal issues that may arise in the sessions are ensured, in which no notes will be taken to guarantee this principle.

 

"Identify and eliminate the situations in which desire is opposed to reason. Through intersubjectivity, we give priority to the theory of argumentation: if the best argument contradicts desire, if the consensus is opposed to that attraction... then the situation must be overcome by making the argumentation prevail. It is a competition that carries with it the commitment to pay attention to the group when the circumstance occurs that desire and reason appear as opposites. " (Gómez, 2008, p: 150)
